By implementing its 2005-2010 Regional Program for the Arab World, PlaNet Finance will support the rapid development of the microfinance sector in the region;
Main Objectives of the 5-year Program
Double the number of microentrepreneurs in the Arab world region in 5 years.
- Extend Microfinance services o rural areas
- Refinance already existing Microfinance Institutions
- Develop new products and services : microinsurance, specialized loans, microsavings, etc
Accompany new actors in the microfinance sector.
- Assist microentrepreneurs by offering specialized training courses
- Assist banks in refinancing Microfinance Institutions and developing microfinance departments
- Assist insurance companies in the extension of services to the poor
Develop microfinance activities in countries currenttly lacking microfinance sectors.
- Introduction of microfinance in countries such as Libya, Oman, Algeria and Syria.
Reinforce existing Microfinance Institutions in the Arab world region.
- Build Capacity of MFIs or public programs through technical assistance and training
- Help MFIs offer products and services better adapted to the needs of the poor
