2006-09-26 - 1st DUBAI MICROFINANCE FORUM
“Microfinance in the MENA region: A tool to fight poverty and unemployment”

PlaNet Finance UAE is organising the First Dubai Microfinance Forum entitled: "Microfinance in the MENA region: A tool to fight poverty and unemployment" on the 5th and 6th of November 2006 at the Meridien Airport Hotel. (Registration and Program availabe :  www.dubai-microfinance.org ).

Providing an opportunity for people to lift themselves out of poverty will be at the heart of the conference's program. It will represent a moment of reflection and dialogue among the practitioners of Microfinance institutions, private sector leaders and community officials that want to establish approaches, methods and procedures capable of responding to the environment and conditions of the Middle East.

Progamme :

1/ What are the challenges for Microfinance Institutions in the Middle East?

2/ Which role can play Banks and Private Sector investors in the Development of Microfinance?

3/ How Corporations, Private foundations or benefactors can support Institutions of Microfinance development?

4/ How governments and International and Public Agencies can support the development of the Microfinance sector in their countries?

5/ Is Microfinance necessary in GCC countries?

 
2006-02-14 - " Evaluation and Rating in Microfinance" in Egypt
National Bank for Development and Planet Finance co-organized a training session

This event was delivered from February 14th to 16th 2006 in Cairo, by the specialized Microfinance rating agency Planet Rating.

31 participants from various MicroFinance Institutions and banks attended the session. Given the very positive feedback of all of them and still a high demand  on this subject, Planet Finance will organize a second session in the next coming months.

2005-09-29 - "Evaluation and Rating in Microfinance" in JORDAN
The USAID-funded AMIR Program and PlaNet Finance offer a training session
The USAID-funded AMIR Program and PlaNet Finance have jointly co-organized, in Amman, a training session on "Evaluation and Rating in Microfinance" from September 26th to 28th 2005.
17 participants from Jordan and Palestine attended the training which was delivered by the specialized microfinance rating agency, Planet Rating.

On Sept. 29th, the half-day workshop "Banks and Microfinance - Ratings and Investment in Microfinance Institutions" gathered 40 participants from banks, governmental institutions, Microfinance Institutions and international organizations;
